Jeju Island Highlights: Jusangjeolli

This was one of the many stops we made on our incredibly packed southwest tour of the island.  These amazing formations on the southwest coast of Jeju island were the result of lava flowing from Hallasan when it erupted thousands of years ago.  These completely natural rock formations look like they have been hand carved because of their cubic and hexagonal shape.  Although it is an extremely crowded tourist attraction, the breathtaking views make it more than worth it to catch a glimpse of these unique volcanic formations.  They are also sometimes called the  “Superman Rocks” because they resemble the crystals in the “Fortress of Solitude”.
