Jeju Island Highlights: Cheonjeyeon Waterfalls

falls

Cheonjeyeon means Pond of the Emperor of Heaven.  According to Korean legend, seven nymphs would descend from the heavens at night and bathe in the waterfall’s pond.

This beautiful three-tiered waterfall is a must see on Jeju Island! Swimming is prohibited, but of course, our group of foreigners ignored that and jumped right in the freezing cold water.  I wasn’t there for the swimming part, but apparently it was short lived and they all got kicked out.  To get to the falls, you can walk across the beautiful Seonimgyo Bridge which has the seven nymphs from the legend carved on it.
